School Leaver Employment Support (SLES)
One Tribe Australia is a boutique provider of School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES). This means that our person-centred, strengths based program can be individually tailored to ensure that participants receive the supports that are the critical bridge between school life and work. Our qualified consultants will build a strategic support program to help achieve meaningful employment goals.
We can help you build capacity and become more independent and work ready by assisting you to:
- explore and understand your potential to help you transition to meaningful employment
- focus on capacity building, developing skills, independence and confidence in their work
- develop a unique pathway to employment that is tailored to your individual needs
The program is available during the final years of school and directly after leaving school, generally up to two years. Our consultants will identify and close any skill gaps and work collaboratively within your support team. Our NDIS registered team will provide you with the highest level of support and strategies will be reviewed periodically to make sure supports are fully meeting your goals
Individualised programs will cover activities such as:
- Building an individual support plan with employment goals
- Identifying strengths, weaknesses and barriers
- Establish potential employment pathways that align with interests and hobbies
- Planning for life after school
- Developing your own personal brand
- One-on-one mentoring
- Employability skills
- Real world work experience options
- Additional training and up-skilling
- Building confidence and self esteem
- Career counselling
- Resume development and interview skills
- Travel training
- Coordination with support providers
- In work support

Our SLES program is focused on you and your individual needs so we we will never use a cookie cutter approach. You can be assured that the employment strategies we develop together will be based on your unique interests and aspirations. What is the difference between SLES and Disability Employment Services (DES)?
SLES is an early intervention approach for school leavers living with significant disability. SLES supports are designed to build capacity and transition to DES. SLES focuses on supporting people to engage in work experience, overcome barriers and build confidence.
DES supports people living with disability who are job ready and able to engage in open employment of at least 8 hours per week. You do not need to have NDIS funding to receive DES support.
Once you feel work ready, you may decide to transition from SLES to DES and both providers will collaborate closely for the first 6 months of your transition.
Is SLES a better option for me than DES?
If you would like to work but need to develop some skills before you find employment, SLES may be a better option for you than DES. When you are ready to transition to a DES provider, we can assist you to find a provider who can support your individual needs.
Do I need SLES funding to use these services?
Our SLES program is also available to people who have funds in their capacity building budget. Please contact one of our friendly consultants if you would like to know more and we can help you work out an employment pathway that suits your individual needs and aspirations.
